Dyeing Straight & Curly Raw Hair Bundles | VB Raw Hair

Can Curly Raw Hair Be Colored?

Yes, curly raw hair can be colored, but bleaching or repeated chemical treatments may loosen the curl pattern.

Curly bundles should be lightened slowly and carefully. A professional colorist may use a lower-strength developer where appropriate and lift the hair gradually over multiple controlled sessions instead of attempting to reach a very light shade in one application.

Using a strong developer, leaving lightener on for too long or repeatedly bleaching the same hair can weaken the strands and permanently alter the curl pattern. The lighter you take curly hair, the greater the chance that the curls may become softer, less defined or more wavy.

After coloring, curly bundles may require more frequent deep conditioning, lightweight curl products and gentler styling. Always complete a strand test first to see how the hair and curls respond before coloring every bundle.

If maintaining the original curl pattern is your priority, consider a darker custom color, subtle highlights or a professional low-lift technique.
